Who We Are & What We Do

Owner and Lead sharpener, Ryan Cheng, has been guided to the skill-set by familiar and unexpected places alike. During his time at Portland State University, Ryan was introduced to printmaking; a skill that is made much more efficient with tuned tools. Drawing from printmaking as well as his years of experience working in commercial kitchens, sharpening became regular practice. A sushi kitchen, touring band, soccer pub and downtown diner later, FreshEdge could take shape. A monument to his growing passion of the craft. Still carrying a printmakers attention to detail and a line cook's understanding for fast, functional tools, Ryan strives to provide the highest quality sharpening possible.
